The short version: we collect only what TeeScan needs to work, we use it only to run TeeScan, and we never sell it.
What we collect
- When you make an account: your name, email, the town you live in, and your phone number if you choose to give it.
- If you fill in your profile: your Green Key type, any resident cards or passes you check, your home course and your handicap. All optional.
- If you send a suggestion with the “What should I add?” button: what you write, and your email if you’re signed in or type it in.
- Visits: each time a TeeScan page loads, we note the time, whether you’re on a phone or computer, and where the visit came from (for example, an Instagram ad). If you’re signed in, the visit is linked to your account so we can see how many members use TeeScan and when. We don’t store your IP address with it.
- Which tee times get tapped: when you tap Book (or a course link), we count it: the course, the tee time, and where your visit came from (for example, an Instagram ad). It’s anonymous. It isn’t tied to your name, email or account, only to a random ID your browser keeps for that one visit. We use these counts to show courses how many golfers TeeScan sends them.
- Basic technical info: like any website, our host sees your IP address and browser type when you visit. We use it briefly to block abuse (for example, too many requests at once). We don’t attach it to your account.
What we don’t collect
- No payment details. TeeScan is free right now. If paid plans start, payments will go through a payment processor and we won’t see your card number.
- No advertising or tracking cookies.
- Your location stays on your device. If you let TeeScan use it, your browser uses it to sort courses by distance and sends rounded coordinates directly to Open-Meteo for the weather forecast. Our servers never receive it.
Why we collect it
- Name and email: to create your account and sign you back in on other devices.
- Your town and profile: to show resident and cardholder rates that apply to you.
- Phone (optional): to keep it to one free trial per person if subscriptions start.
- Email updates: we may email you about important changes to TeeScan, like new courses or when subscriptions start. Reply or email us and we’ll stop.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell, rent or trade your information, and we don’t share it with golf courses or advertisers. We may share overall totals with courses, like “80 golfers tapped your tee times this month,” but never anything about you. It’s stored with Cloudflare, which hosts TeeScan. If paid plans start, a payment processor will handle payments. We’d only share information if the law requires it.
Your choices
- Change your town, cards and profile anytime on your My profile page.
- To delete your account and everything tied to it, email hello@teescan.app from the address you signed up with. We’ll delete it within 30 days.
- Your preferences (filters, last region) are saved in your own browser. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Kids
TeeScan isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and let account holders know by email.
